One Swiss Knife in the exact shape of your life.

Do the math.

A Taster is $0. An Every Blade Ever knife is $199 once (or $159 during the founding run of 500), + local VAT shown at checkout. Here is what the same years cost in subscriptions (every figure below is a sum you can check) and, honestly, what each side gets that the other doesn't.

Every named price comes from the Subscription Price Index, checked 3 August 2026, with the source URL for each figure. The "modest stack" row is a deliberately conservative $20/month rather than any particular basket. Theirs drift upward; ours doesn't. First 500 knives at founding prices ($39 / $79 / $159) beside the list prices they return to. Prices are in USD, + local VAT shown at checkout; the till shows your own currency.

Every competitor figure on this page comes from the Subscription Price Index, rechecked on the first of every month, with the source URL for every price and CSV and JSON downloads.

What the math doesn't say.

What subscriptions genuinely do better

  • Real-time collaboration and shared workspaces. A knife is a personal tool: one pair of hands.
  • Automatic sync across devices. Yours travels by e-mail, USB stick, or a folder you control.
  • Cloud backup handled for you. Here, keeping copies is your craft: the knife makes it easy, but it's yours to do.
  • Native mobile apps.
  • Integrations and APIs.
  • A support team on retainer. We answer e-mail within a day, as one workshop.

What the knife does that no subscription can

  • You own it. The file is the product, forever.
  • It works offline, anywhere, on any browser, any decade.
  • The price never rises, because there is no price after the first one.
  • It cannot be discontinued, sunsetted, or "migrated to our new plans."
  • Nothing is tracked, because nothing is connected.
  • Reforging within your tier is free for life.
  • When you stop paying a subscription you lose everything. When you stop paying us, nothing happens, you already stopped after day one.

The honest summary: if your work is shared and synced across a team, subscriptions earn their keep. If your life is the workspace, the math is not close.
