PageThe Subscription Price Index
We priced a fixed basket of consumer subscription apps at each vendor's own page, dated every line, and put the whole thing at /price-index to be rechecked on the first of every month. It publishes as CSV and JSON under CC BY 4.0, so anyone can chart it or correct us. The finding we did not expect: paying monthly rather than annually costs 59 percent more across the basket, for identical software.

PageThis changelog, and an Atom feed
We built a plain, dated record of what changes here, plus a feed you can point any reader at. No account required to watch us work — that would rather defeat the point.

PageThree /vs/ comparisons a week, still going
We keep adding honest, line-by-line comparisons against the tools people are switching away from — YNAB, Notion, MyFitnessPal, and now a run of habit and cycle trackers. Same format every time: what they do well, what they charge, and where a single file wins.

PageGift certificates
You can now buy someone a Knife without deciding which one. A gift certificate at /gift redeems for any weight at /redeem — still one payment, still nothing to subscribe to on their behalf.

FixThe Forge, v2.34 — codename THE PLATE
A quieter, faster pass through the intake: fewer redundant questions, a clearer weight readout before you pay, and a handful of copy fixes people had been emailing us about. Nothing about the underlying knives changed.

ToolThree free tools you can embed anywhere
Subscription Mirror, Equal Pay Day, and Global Pride Calendar are now live as standalone, embeddable single-file tools at /tools/subscription-mirror, /tools/equal-pay-day, and /tools/global-pride-calendar. Drop them on your own site; they still phone home to nobody.

ToolThe Taster gets a free tier
You can now try the Taster — our quick 'which Knife fits your life' quiz — at no weight at all. Weight 2 unlocks the fuller version if you want a sharper recommendation before you commit to the Forge.

PageThe App Factory, successor to the Apparatus
/factory replaces the old /apparatus as the explainer for how a Knife actually gets assembled from the Catalog. We're keeping /apparatus live as its ancestor page, for anyone who bookmarked it.

ToolThree free cast tools: Almanac, Passphrase Maker, Kombucha Calendar
Before you spend anything, you can use these three in full, forever, free. They're small, they're real Tools from the Catalog, and they're the easiest way to see what a single-file app feels like.
